Smart Food Shopping
How do you become a smart supermarket shopper? It’s easy: Make a list and remember to look for foods that are low in calories, fat, cholesterol and sodium. Also, look for high-fiber foods. Shop around the outside aisle of the store because these foods tend to be the healthiest. Still, the best practice is to not shop when you are hungry. Find foods that taste good and are good for you. Select lean meat, fresh or frozen deep green or orange-colored vegetables. Choose whole grain breads, cereals and pasta, and select low-fat dairy products. Stay away from processed foods that are high in fat and sodium. Buy fresh fruit in season or fruit canned in their own juice or water.
